I grew up watching a Phillies farm club, and saw some really great players on their way to the majors. I was well on my way to becoming a Phillies fan, when my draft board sent me a note stating their intention to take me away from all that. After a few years making the world safe for corporate capitalism, I returned home to discover the networks had traded me to Seattle, since it was only 200 miles from my home. I sulked for a decade or two, but eventually decided that Seattle baseball was better than no baseball at all.
