As I was getting ready for work this morning, I turned on ESPN to watch SportsCenter, as I usually do. Unfortunately, Sunday mornings feature a break in the SC coverage to go to a show called "Outside the Lines". I don't generally watch this show, but something today caught my ear, and made me want to hear more. For once in a great while, the words "Detroit Lions" were uttered without being followed by some sort of crack about their literal no-win season last year. Okay, okay. So Brett Favre has officially stated that he will not return to play for the Minnesota Vikings. Good for him. It must be hard to retire from the sport you have dedicated so many years to. I suppose it might get easier the second and third time around, though. Perhaps this one will stick. Either way, he will not be returning for this coming season, and I for one am thrilled.I suppose I have no real basis for disliking Favre so much. Now that the All-Star break has come and gone for Major League Baseball, it's crunch time. Leading into the break, everyone just hopes their standings are good enough to propell them through the second half without too much drama. Unfortunately, the Detroit Tigers have a bad reputation after the All-Star break. Last year, for instance, going into the break, they were only 2 games behind the White Sox. Much to Detroit fans' dismay, by the end of the season, the Tigers had fallen to 14 1/2 games behind first place. They probably should've just waved the white flag once they were back…
