After starting the season 1-1, coming back to beat D-2 Angelo State and falling to FBS SMU in a game that the Bobcats were capable of winning were it not for 5 turnovers leading to 23 points the Bobcats finally get a road win. Those have been few and far between since 2005 and it did come easy or pretty. Northern Colorado scored on the first play of the game, then went down 21 to 7 only to come back to tie the game at halftime. Late in the 4th the Bobcats regained the lead 38-35 and were it not for a fumble by Northern Colorado on the Bobcat 1 yard line might have ended up…

At least two former Bobcat track and field stars are heading to the Olympics at the time this is being written. First congratulations to Mike Hazel. The Pan Am Games Gold Medalist finishes second in the javelin throw at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene and is heading to Beijing. Hazel has been one of the most successful former Bobcat men on the world track and field stage since Charles Austin won a Gold for the high jump in 1996. Second congratulations to Brigitte Foster who will be representing Jamaica at the games running the 100 meter hurdles.Still waiting to hear…

Texas State Spring Game Saturday

This Saturday night at 6pm Texas State Bobcat football fans will get their first preview of the team during the annual Maroon and Gold spring game. There is a new excitement among the Bobcat faithful because of a new emphasis on defense. The defense has been a weak spot, especially last season as the 'Cats gave up a record number of yards and tons of points.
